Baptism & Belonging

Baptism represents belonging!

The water is nothing special, there’s no magic involved. You don’t guarantee heaven by being baptized. Baptism is simply how a new follower of Jesus, commonly called a Christian, shares with the world what he/she has chosen to believe and publicly identify with Jesus! It’s saying “I am now part of God’s team!” (Acts 2:38-41)

Jesus got baptized too!

Even Jesus got baptized, and used it to demonstrate how we, too, can share in the victory Jesus won in his death and resurrection! (Romans 6:1-6)

  • When you go under the water during baptism, it represents the death of Jesus and His burial. It’s a vivid picture of the truth that our old life, which was ruled by sin, has also died along with Jesus.

  • When you come out of the water, it represents Jesus’ resurrection – His rising from the dead in His glorified, Heavenly body. As Jesus was raised from death into new life, we too have been raised from death into new life as sons and daughters of our Heavenly Father.

Belonging at The Common Place

The Common Place is one of many local churches that represent the Body of Christ (Romans 12:4-5). Anyone is welcome to belong here!

When choosing a local church as your primary church home, it’s important to know what the church believes and how God has called the church to serve. Here’s what we believe and how we serve God at The Common Place.

We don’t expect you to be here forever!

The only forever is in Heaven with Jesus.

While we live on this earth, our goal at The Common Place is to share Jesus to all people so that they may all do the same. Our goal is NOT to keep you here forever, but empower everyone to GO! (Matthew 28:19-20)
